About CaNoLab

The Chemistry for Advanced Nanomaterials and Polymeric Networks Laboratory (CaNoLab) was founded by Assistant Professor Zeliha Cansu Canbek Özdil and Assistant Professor Volkan Can at Yeditepe University, in the Material Science and Nanotechnology Department. CaNoLab focuses on the design, synthesis, and characterization of next-generation nanomaterials and polymeric network systems with tailored physical, chemical, and functional properties.

The laboratory’s research spans a broad range of topics, including conductive and stimuli-responsive hydrogels, polymer–nanomaterial composites, nanogels, anisotropic and hybrid nanoparticles, and multifunctional polymeric networks. By combining molecular-level design, nanostructuring, and multiscale modeling, CaNoLab aims to establish structure–property–function relationships that enable innovative solutions for biomedical sensing, wearable and implantable devices, soft electronics, and sustainable technologies.

CaNoLab adopts an interdisciplinary research approach that integrates computational simulations, advanced materials synthesis, and experimental characterization, with a strong emphasis on translating fundamental insights into practical and scalable systems.

In addition to its research mission, the laboratory is committed to training undergraduate and graduate students in cutting-edge nanomaterials research, fostering critical thinking, creativity, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Through national and international collaborations, CaNoLab strives to contribute to high-impact scientific research while addressing emerging challenges in healthcare, environmental monitoring, and advanced functional materials.
