Chemistry for Advanced Nanomaterials and Polymeric Networks

Group Members
Assistant Professor Z. Cansu Canbek Özdil

I received my B.Sc. degree in chemistry from Middle East Technical University and her M.Sc. degree from the University of Regensburg in the field of “Complex Condensed Materials and Soft Matter”. I pursued my Ph.D. degree in theoretical chemistry at the University of Versailles-St-Quentin. I am currently working as an assistant professor at Yeditepe University Material Science and Nanotechnology Engineering Department.
My specific area of research includes the production/characterization of functional nanomaterials and the development of microfluidic lab-on-chip (LOC) platforms.
My research interests span a wide range of topics in functional nanomaterials from an application point of view, including functional nanomaterials, nanobiosensing devices and point care devices.
Assistant Professor Volkan Can

Dr. Volkan Can received his BSc. and MSc. degrees in Chemistry and Polymer Science & Technology from Istanbul Technical University, respectively. He has completed his PhD in Chemistry at TU Clausthal. He has worked at both Istanbul Technical University and Helmholtz Zentrum - Berlin as a postdoctoral researcher. He is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Genetics and Bioengineering Department at Yeditepe University. His studies cover the synthesis and characterization of macro and nano-sized hydrogels with environmental responsivity, such as pH, temperature, and ionic strength, as well as fluorescence nanoparticles. He investigates the utilization of these materials in the construction of microfluidic chips for the detection of various diseases.
